Twitter DRAGS Taylor Swift For This Instagram Comment About 2017

It’s safe to say that many people can agree that 2017 was NOT the best year ever, butttt Taylor Swift totally disagrees.

I guess the travel ban, millions possibly losing healthcare, Charlottesville, and the repeal of net neutrality totally make for a good year, right Taylor?

The line between loving and hating Taylor Swift is now more prominent than ever. While there are still MILLIONS of people who love Tay and continue to stand by her side, there are others criticizing her every move. Case in point – the reaction to her latest Instagram caption.

Not long after her birthday, Taylor shared a breathtaking photo to her Instagram and wrote QUOTE, “I love you guys so much. This was a photo Paul Sidoti took at Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball in London a few days ago. I couldn’t have asked for a better year, all thanks to you. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Can’t wait to see what 28 will be like. See you on tour.”

As sweet as that message to her fans was, the sentence, “I couldn’t have asked for a better year, all thanks to you.” Totally rubbed some people the wrong way and these people did what every offended person does these days: express their anger on Twitter.

One user replied to Billboard’s coverage of Taylor’s message and wrote, “I mean, yeah there were Nazis and white supremacy marches, and families are being torn apart, and there were mass shootings, and people are losing health care, but none of that affects me, so 2017 was great!”

Another person tweeted, “*rest of the world goes up in flames of around her.* Taylor: I’m just really excited that my album made so much money.” One user wrote a very blunt tweet and said QUOTE, “I need enough money to buy the privilege to be oblivious to everything.” Ouch.

To be fair, Taylor may have had a good year for herself personally – like winning her court case, speaking up for survivors of sexual harassment, being a Time person of the year, and releasing an album, but 2017 wasn’t really a great (or average) year for a lot of people in the world.

What do you guys think? Was Taylor’s ‘best year ever’ comment simply an innocent one or does it just show that she’s totally out of touch with everything that’s going on in the world? Let me know in the comment section below. Thanks for hanging with me right here on Clevver Newsfeed, I’m your girl Miriam Isa, don’t forget to subscribe and I’ll see ya next time!
